Back in Black

it's been a little while since I've written, as I was stuck in North Dakota without internet access. I've since added "The Internet" to the short list of things that are really really hard to live without. Ugh.

Anyway, we got some great news when I got back, finding out that we have an audition for the Colorado People's Fair (which is a huge outdoor street festival in Denver's Civic Center Park) on Sunday morning at The Soiled Dove. We're totally stoked about it and are happy to have the opportunity. So, if you're in the area (and actually awake on Sunday morning at 11 am, come on down and root us on. Should be a really good time.

Hope to see you there!

Sam

Manic Tuesday

Hey,

It finally started to sink in this morning that we were on the radio on Sunday night...weird how that happens. You wait for so long for a moment to take place, and when it does you're completely ill-prepared to accept the fact that it has actually happened. I think having a ton of people come up to me and tell me that they heard it helps me accept that it's real. Bizarre, but real.

Anyway, I have to leave on a road trip tomorrow afternoon for South Dakota, and I'm not terribly excited. Not only do i have to be away from home for work, but I am missing out on a lot of valuable band practice time, which is upsetting to say the least. We're supposed to be writing all this new music on our break from shows, and we've had all of 2 practices together in the last two weeks. We're ridiculous, but a lot of it is my fault. Work is rough in March for me, as it's tournament time and we have two basketball teams in the tourney. Plus baseball has started which takes a ton of time and energy. So, in a way, I'm looking forward to leaving town for a few days. I'll be able to spend some time reflecting on music, the important things in my life right now, and all of the important people.

At least, that's what I'm hoping for. I've already done all the prep work, so the work part of my job will come after games and before practices, with in-between times left to my discretion.

Anyway, gotta run and take care of some things for leaving tomorrow. I'll try to post from the road.

Peace out.

Sam

Did you hear?

Hey Everyone!

So we're all very excited, as the band has crossed a threshold that we've always dreamed about. Last night, on Channel 93.3 in Denver, our song "My Line" was played for all to hear at the start of Channel 93.3's Local's Only. When a friend called to tell me that we were on, I just couldn't believe it; I'm still in a state of shock, and I don't think the feeling has fully set in yet. I'm just kind of reveling in the moment...a song, my song, my words, played out on a very popular radio station for all to hear.

It's like a justification for all that we do, all that we work for. All the shows, all the practices, the cancelling of other things for band events, everything was worth it.

So now when we start to get down on ourselves, or I can't seem to write any new music, I have something to hold on to.

Our song has been on the radio.

And everything is changing for us now.

Sam

hi

Well, I'm Sam, and I'm from Denver. I don't know why I started this LiveJournal, except that it might get a little more exposure for my band and that might somehow translate into fame and/or fortune. Which would be terrific. As this thing goes on, you'll get to know more about me, and I you, or that's the idea anyway.

So check back. I'll have stuff to put here soon.

Sam
